What format is the data held in, i.e. disk or tape?

Customer encryted data is held on fault tolerant disk arrays for rapid access times and is additionally mirrored to an alternate location for safety.

Is it secure and separate from other customers’ data?

It depends on the rapid recovery service contracted, many enterprise clients have separate systems at the Data Centre and are therefore separated from other clients data. In all cases, authentication is performed between the relevant rapid recovery system each time they connect to re-verify the authenticity of the rapid recovery Client Application. Additionally, all backup data is encrypted at the client site, using the customers’ unique keys, so it is able to be de-crypted only at that specific client's site.
